Alfred & Sose Selimaj
The house rests on the silent but strong skills of all its family members. Mother Sose's total control over the household, including the animals, and her unstoppable pace of activities, starting at five every morning to end only after the final guest has fallen asleep, coupled with Alfred's communication and organization skills, provides guests a genuinely relaxing holiday atmosphere, a perfect setting to begin the hikes.Supporting local community
Selimaj Guesthouse plays a vital role in the wellbeing of its community. The Selimaj brothers split their time between caring for the guesthouse and running the local hydraulic power station, which is pivotal to the economic wellbeing of Valbona's inhabitants. This fundamental service provision is completely reliant on them and a stay here will support this. Lirim, the cook, is also, since the last five years, the engineer in charge of the station, appointed by the local administration, which has never been able to pay any of his salaries or even fund any kind of repair work.
Guests can gain a richer understanding of community life - especially one lived in such harsh natural conditions. They are encouraged to ask Alfred to walk them to the power station to witness its operations first-hand.
