Shkoder & Albanian Alps Accommodation Roza Rupa Guesthouse Sustainability

Roza Rupa

Rosa Rupa is a busy woman who is divided between the modernity of full-time work in Shkoder (the closest city) and family life in traditional Theth. She manages the guesthouse to supplement her income during the summer in order to prepare for the long, cold winter that renders Theth inaccessible to the outside world.

She is a very attentive host who has worked hard to bring her guesthouse up to standard for international guests. She and her family will work hard to make sure your stay is comfortable, paying attention to details such as a warm cup of tea and a cheery fire in the fireplace.

Caring for destination

This accommodation provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.

Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:

The families of this isolated village still maintain a traditional way of life that has not been heavily influenced by the outside world. Their livelihoods consist mainly of small-scale agriculture.

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:

Staying at village guesthouses such as Rosa Rupa’s in Thethi contributes to the local area. The families who live in this remote area can generate much-needed income by hosting travelers in their homes.
