Gjon Deda
Your hosts, Gjon and Maria Deda make sure they return to Okol every spring, with their cow, seven sheep and many chicken, to look after the house and the fruit orchard, and to cultivate the terrain. Gjon and Maria want to make absolutely sure their sons and daughter, now immigrants in Italy, will have a safe and great place to always return to, once the desire to face the world is quelled inside of them.
Extreme peaks such as those rising above Theth are the cause of very potent avalanches during winter. This last winter brought particularly heavy snowfalls, and the number of destructive avalanches was higher than other years, with fallen trees becoming a serious impediment to climbing expeditions using horses to pull up their gear.
Guests are urged to help Gjon Deda bring back order on the trek by using his famous chain saw. This is an essential service for all hikers and climbers who seek to reach the Jezerca Peak or other valleys.
