Whether interested in trekking, local traditions and food or local farming, the Deda Guesthouse, which offers full room and board to guests, is an ideal option. Thanks to its strategic location at the very beginning of the Theth valley in the Okol neighbourhood, this hidden jewel will impress visitors with incredible views of the open valley, a pristine environment and soft sounds of country life.
The guesthouse is located close to the path that leads to the Peja Pass, the set of ancient treks that connected the Dukagjin highlands to the Dukagjin lowlands, and are a part of western Kosovo today. For centuries this trek represented the only path in and out of the region.
Deda Guesthouse is the perfect accommodation for small and medium groups of experienced climbers who wish to explore the Peja Pass and the Jezerca massif and Pyramid Peak, the highest of the Northern Alps.
The aesthetically decorated rooms of the guesthouse are done up in a unique mix of traditional art and architecture, offering modern comforts.
Various development organizations, such as the German Organization for Technical Cooperation, have worked with the host families in the area to bring their guesthouses up to standard. While travelers must keep in mind that these are very modest, simple, and rustic family home environments, they will be pleased to find that the accommodations do provide a comfortable stay.
It is most considerate to book in advance so that each family has time to prepare the food and guestrooms with your comfort in mind.
The family offers guests a comfortable stay in their home. Bed sheets and towels are provided for. All meals are included in the price.
The only items to be carried on this trip are shampoo and shower gel, mosquito repellent, a small first aid kit, a warm sweater and a warm pair of socks. A pair of slippers should also be brought along, as it is the custom in Albania to leave one's shoes at the door, and walk around the house in slippers.
As in the case of most homes, Deda's Guesthouse basic services are located on the ground floor. Guests will love the spacious and superbly decorated fireplace room, which tells the story of Albanian hospitality. Throughout the ages, it has always been called the Guest's Room, as it was the biggest, nicest, and by far the warmest room in the house. It currently serves as a pleasant living room where guests can meet the family and share their stories.
The orchard and animal farm are also an integral part of the guesthouse complex. Guests need not fear the animals as they have been well-trained by their owners.

As tourism is still very new in Albania, the village guesthouses do not have a check-in or check-out time. However, if there is a new group coming, guests will be requested to check-out before the arrival of the new guest (which is usually after noon).
If luggage is required to be left at the reception for a few extra hours after checking out of the room, the reception would be happy to oblige. Guests should refer to the online dictionary while asking about storage of their luggage.
Children are welcome to stay.
- for cancellations made 48 h before the arrival date, there will not be any cancellation charge
- for cancellations made less than 48 h before the arrival date, there will be a charge equivalent to the first night's stay.
Please be aware that the weather in the mountains can be cold. Make sure you do not forget to bring a warm sweater or a windcheater. In addition we advise to bring a pair of warm socks, as it is the custom in Albania to take off your shoes, while entering the house.
Most of the ladies in Thethi make their own handmade woollen socks, and they would be happy to sell them (between 800 and 1000 lek per pair) to you.Cash
